Sifu Brinker - Day 15

A travel day to get back home so as limited as my dietary choices were the past few days, today is even worse. Luckily I am on the home stretch.

Breakfast - two bananas.
Lunch - vegetarian burger and salad
Supper - Arby's roast beef sandwich

Sifu Brinker - Day 14

Still away on business so my dietary choices are extremely limited.

- 250 ml of yogurt with two bananas sliced in for breakfast.
- lunch was a an opportunistic Teen Burger (and I don't eat red meat so you know how limited my choices were) and a root beer.
- supper was a vegetarian pizza with a thin flatbread crust.

Urp.

sifu robertson: aug 15th

Oh man.

Brunch was intense. Omlette, two eggs benedict, potatoes, spinach salad (with amazing croutons), half a waffle, various fruits and some bread pudding. Plus two cups of coffee and two glasses of orange juice.

Food coma for the rest of the day.

Tortilla chips before bed.

I regret nothing.

Brady Young: Day 14 & 15

Saturday started off with a bowl of Lean Crunch with a spoonful of peanut butter.
Lunch was a whole wheat chicken pineapple jalenpeno sandwich from Men's Health magazine.
It was a crazy night at work so the next meal didn't come for another 9 hours. I had a roasted chicken sandwich on whole wheat again, much different and more plain than lunch. Also had a pizza burger that came all the way from Nova Scotia that I'd been putting off for so long. I had to eat it just to say that I had! Had a bit of peanut butter chocolate too...

On Sunday I started off with a black coffee, a raisin bran muffin, and a Tim Horton's breakfast sandwich. Lunch was a mini fajita consisting of two flour tortillas with chicken, steak and shrimp, red peppers and a bit of cheese, tomatoes and lettuce.
Dinner was a birthday celebration BBQ...damn birthdays seem to get the best of me. I had a cheeseburger with some potato and pasta salad. A small slice of cake somehow wound up in front of me too. Almost forgot about those two apple ciders...

Did not eat until 11:30 a bowl of green chili soup with spoon full of cheese
at 2:00 I ate a hamburger, in my two years working in the restaurant I am in now this is only my third time eating a hamburger. Then I had had some popcorn at 11:00 pm trying to finish a movie that has taken almost a week to finish.
Really crappy day of eating not a good way to keep the metabolism engine running. Today has to be better.

Camping does not inspire good eating (especially when it rains) as far as I'm concerned. We are leaving for Jasper right away so I am going to actually plan this time and hopefully eat better as a result.

Sifu Brinker - Day 12

Morning breakfast of yogurt and banana, lunch of a vegetarian pita of my own concoction. Lots of celery, lettuce, and cucumber and supper was fish, asparagus, beets, and rice. Everything was washed down with lots and lots of water.

This whole recording process has really opened my eyes to how rushed my meals have become. I don't really have a set time to eat and I can only classify myself as an opportunistic omnivore. I tend to eat what is handy and what is available. I definitely need to plan my meals ahead of time so that I have a little more control over what I eat. I tend to eat healthy for the most part but my diet is not balanced. I want to increase my calcium intake and more joint friendly meals. This can only happen if I plan better.

Sifu Brinker - Day 11

Forgot to post this one, sorry.

A big part of my day was spent at the kwoon, working on the renovations so it was not a typical meal day for me.

I had around 250 ml of yogurt mixed with two bananas for breakfast. Dinner was consumed at Spiros restaurant with Sihing Lindstrom and Sifu Clements. I had the Chicken Souvlaki pita with fries. Only had the fries because I forgot to specify the salad. My supper was the black belt special - Boston Pizza chicken wings and pizza bread washed down with an ice tea while meeting about our curriculum development.

Aug 10: Shameful, shameful day. (full of regret and excuses)

This is probably my worst day all year and I have to share it. A combination of bad preparation and an early morning start on a road trip to Drumheller lead to the following despicable day of eatery.

Breakfast: 2 kashi bars, coffee, water, orange juice - stopped in red deer got timbits.
Lunch: A&W - 2 burgers, onion rings and root beer. I don't really drink pop but hey I don't really eat beef either. I guess if I'm at A&W I might as well go all out.

Green Tea sometime later this day.

Supper: A little better. Seasoned chicken breasts, cucumber-tomato salad.

Snack: Salami on a stick heated by the campfire, Dad's chocolate oatmeal O cookies (whatever they are called)

Aug 11:

Breakfast: Mini-wheats, milk
Lunch: Subway italian sub and cranberry juice. Water
Snack: container of cut-up Pineapple, 2 bananas, green tea

Supper - Ravioli (the olivieri kind not the chef's), ceasar salad.

snack - cherries

Aug 12:

Breakfast - Pancakes and orange juice (orange juice is good for you but OJ will kill ya')
Lunch - yucky hot dogs, water
2nd Lunch - Garden peas (snap peas and snow peas). Grapes, Water
Pit stop in red deer - coffee and 3 kashi bars.
Supper: Macaroni noodles with tomato sauce. Quick easy filling. Water and cheese.

The next 2 days will be clean eating and then the trip to Jasper will be better planned so that the food is more pure and nutritious.

Sihing Kichko - Aug 4 - 11

I will not bore you with the gory details of my eating habits while camping. The high lights were garden fresh lettuce everyday and my morning oatmeal. The low lights would definitely have to be Jiffy popcorn (only taste good in the mountains) and something my family calls camping cookies (chocolate covered graham crackers, too good!). I took a lot more fresh fruit than I usually do and managed to snack on it more often than not but there were some serious junk food moments.
Today's food:
Breakfast : oatmeal, raisins, rye bread toast, soya milk
Snack : nectarine
Lunch : McChicken and fries, road food

Sifu Brinker - Day 10

Started off my day with a breakfast of around 250 ml of yogurt with an entire banana sliced in. My lunch consisted of a variety of cheese with crackers and humus.

I broke Jeff's first rule of life at supper when I consumed an entire pineapple by slicing it up and mixing it with 250 ml of cottage cheese. There is definitely a reason why I make it a point to never eat anything bigger than my head. I wasn't feeling so good after that.

To finish the day with some extra calories, I had another healthy spinach pizza and a potato.

Day Nine and Ten: Brady Young

First meal on Monday was a tuna sandwich with cantaloupe.
Afternoon snack was a hotdog.
Dinner was steak, potatoes and salad.
Snack was popcorn and apple cider

Today I had half of a whey shake and half a bowl of green chile chicken soup. Lunch was a salad with chicken. It had carrots and tomatoes and too much dressing, and I washed it down with a spicy bowl of gumbo.
Dinner was a special occasion, mixed in with a bit of nerves and anxiousness.
I had a bbq chicken wrap in a green tortilla, two caesars for some crazy reason they put french fries with my relatively healthy chicken wrap!

Both lunch and breakfast were a write off today all I had was water, though not for a lack of trying.
I forgot my wallet at home and a lunch so I rode the bus home only to realize I left my keys at work. It's one of those days.

Supper was home made pasta from the farmers market with a garlic pesto and red pepper sauce. Sidekick to that was a spinach salad with tomatoes, red peppers and goat cheese all organic and from the farmers market and it was really tasty. To drink I had a glass of white wine and another one a couple hours later while I work on well work that I had to bring home. Leftover stir-fry; contains broccolli, water chestnuts, bean sprouts, yellow bell pepper, celery, red bell pepper, and not too much pork, which is unusual for Bert.

Apple

Child-size slurpee - no sugar added Crystal Light stuff in Green Apple/Mango flavor which was interesting.

Sushi, tossed salad.

My day suddenly ended up being quite stressful, so I finished the day by ruminating and eating a whole bag of Weightwatcher's 2-point bagels - so that's 12 points. Total daily allowance is 24 points. Still feel stressed: I should know better.

Sifu Brinker - Day 8

Busy day working on the kwoon renovations so no time to add punctuality to my meals.

Breakfast was a sensible glass of water washed down with about two more litres of water. Yummy.

Lunch was a spinach pizza on whole wheat crust. Also washed down with about a litre of water.

Supper was two peanut butter sandwiches. Oh boy my favourite!! Washed down with another litre of water.

I think I am now officially rehydrated after yesterdays attic excursion.

Dirt day: A concept that I read about in a Loren Christiansen book: Fighters body. Loren Christiansen is probably the best Martial Arts writer I have found, He's a good writer, a traditional practitioner, but also a cop so he has the practical point of view on his side too. He is highly recommended reading.

So dirt day is a concept that allows you to have your tasty snack that you crave but keeps your training in mind and your snacking in check. Basically have a day of the week that you allow yourself to have a snack (not a binge). That way when you feel like you want to have something you know you shouldn't (most especially when your training hard for, I don't know.. black belt or a tournament or something) you can tell yourself - 'no, dirt day is Friday after class (or whenever)' . This way your snack almost works as motivation to not snack all week during your training but also acts as a reward at the end of the week for staying on track.

Generally once a week I have nachos and either share some chocolate with Andrea or have some cookies - This is dirt day, the rest of the week I try not to have anything worse than toast and jelly.
